Elaine Hoey

Elaine Hoey works mainly creating interactive based installations, appropriating contemporary digital art practices and aesthetics to explore the politics of digital humanity and our evolving relationship with the screen. Although her work mainly evolves around the exploration of virtual reality technologies she also incorporates a wide range of digital art mediums into her practises such as, video editing, 3d sound, programming, projection mapping, motion capture, image manipulation, 3d volumetric film making, gaming technologies and the use of sensor and micro-controller technologies.

Elaine completed a MFA in Fine Art Media at the National College of Art and Design (2017). Recent awards include the RDS Taylor Art Award (2016), RC Lewis Crosby Award (2017) and the RDS Centre Culturel Irlandais Residency Award (2017). Her work has been exhibited as part of the exhibitions: Design and Violence (2016) at the Science Gallery, Dublin (co-curated by the Museum of Modern Art, New York), Futures (2016) at the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin; This is not Architecture (2017) at Highlanes, Drogheda; Open Codes at ZKM Karlsruhe, Germany (2018); Oracle at Scena9. Bucharest (2018); Turbulence (2017-2018) The Model, Sligo; The Dictionary of Evil (2018) at Gangwon International Biennale, South Korea; Recent commissions include The Ground Opened Up, for the National Sculpture Factory (2017) and a Web Residency (collaboration with Alan Butler) at Solitude & ZKM (2017-2018).
