The National Sculpture Factory in association with Cork Film Festival presents Bríd Murphy’s Blue I, II, III
Blue I, II, III is concerned with the anxieties surrounding issues such as gender and self-identity. I address traditional notions of gender norms through video portraiture, sound and installation. These videos, referencing Renaissance and Baroque painting and culture, feature bodies who do not conform to traditional gender binaries.
Bríd Murphy graduated in 2019 with a 1st class honours degree in Sculpture & Combined Media at LSAD. Her practice explores themes such as gender, anxiety and self-identity through a wide variety of media such as video, drawing and performance.
Recent exhibitions include Peakshow and K-Fest and she has recently shown work in the NMI, Castlebar and the NMI, Collins Barracks. She has also been selected for the 2019 Zurich Portrait Prize.
