The installations Michella Perera create play on the viewer’s perception and understanding of the space around them. Her installations are realised as theatre sets that hover between illusionary and real space in which existing elements of the architectural space appear to be disrupted by an action of transformation, which has now come to a halt. The artist draws on stagnant and fragmented urban monuments to produce these non-conformative, spatial interrupts within the architecture of the building.
